Mehr lesenWhat an evening! On November 22nd, the Social Business Hub Styria once again hosted the largest Styrian event for everyone who wants to positively change the future with their business (Social & Green Entrepreneurship). The Styrian social & green entrepreneurship scene met at the UNICORN Startup & Innovation Hub to exchange ideas about the latest trends and the role of social & green entrepreneurs for the economy – especially in these difficult times.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of Styrian social & green entrepreneurs who are bringing about positive social and ecological changes with their innovative business ideas, as well as the opportunity to network with them. A particularly positive aspect: the successes at the federal level and the introduction of the “Verified Social Entrepreneurship” label.
After the Social Business Hub Styria board member duo Kirsten Tangemann and Rüdiger Wetzl-Piewald warmly welcomed everyone, the guests listened eagerly to the varied program. There were messages of thanks from State Councilor Barbara Eibinger-Miedl, State Councilor Simone Schmiedtbauer and City Councilor Günter Riegler, all of whom emphasized the importance of sustainable entrepreneurship (Social & Green Entrepreneurship) for the city and for the region. Then things got really interesting: Constanze Stockhammer (managing director of Social Entrepreneurship Network Austria – SENA), Florian Ott (Erste Bank) and the social entrepreneurs Alexandra Müller (mentorverde) and Gerhard Dorn (konomondo) discussed how social & green entrepreneurs can strengthen the economy, especially in times of crisis.
ENA managing director Constanze Stockhammer reported on the achievements at the federal level. This includes the fact that social entrepreneurship was recognized for the first time in the government program with a separate chapter “Social Entrepreneurship”, as well as the introduction of the “Verified Social Enterprise” label under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Economic Affairs.
A highlight was the live connection to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai, from which Sarah Sommerauer reported on her work.
The last part of the event was all about networking. The guests took the opportunity to exchange ideas, make new contacts and expand their own network.
We would like to thank all the donations of greetings and all the panel guests for their active participation and support of our event. It’s particularly pleasing to receive so much positive feedback. Of course, we would also like to expressly thank all of our visitors, who also contribute to strengthening the Social & Green Entrepreneurship community in Styria with their active networking.

Mehr lesenThere are different ways in which a social business can combine impact with an economic business model. In an integrated approach impact is directly generated through commercial activities. Target groups are part of the model either as employees of the company, as users of services or as customers. When customers and beneficiaries differ the situation is more complex and a differentiated impact business model applies. “Sustainable” businesses generate impact by using environmentally sustainable processes, products or services.
