Press and Awards – Workshops for a more effective public visibility

11.11.2022 Incubation, News

As a social entrepreneur, how do I get my stories into the media? What is the best way to approach journalists? And what impact can I achieve with corporate awards? We were able to answer these exciting questions on 16 November at workshops with Ernst Sittinger from the Kleine Zeitung and our Board Member Rüdiger Wetzl-Piewald, who has received many prestigious company awards.

The two workshops were not only aimed at the teams in our Social & Green Business Impact Incubation Programme, but were also accessible free of charge to Styrian social entrepreneurs and their employees. We were particularly pleased to meet many familiar faces, but also some new ones, and to provide so much enthusiasm and inspiration.

Ernst Sittinger, a long-time journalist and media professional at the Kleine Zeitung, started and gave us insider tips and provided some exciting insights into the world of the media. In the workshop on strategic press work for social business, we gained insights into the everyday life of a journalist, which was spiced up with one or two anecdotes. In addition, Ernst Sittinger provided us with impulses and suggestions about the future of the media and, above all, many practical tips and hints on how social entrepreneurs should approach journalists in order to achieve more reach. With the new knowledge from the workshop, one or the other stumbling block can be cleared out of the way in order to make your own press relation more effective step by step.

For the second workshop We have a winner! Submitting company awards correctly & using them strategically, SBHS Co-CEO Rüdiger Wetzl-Piewald took over the stage at the conference deck and explained to what you should pay attention if you want to land a company award and how you can use effectively the prizes for your own marketing. He spoke from experience: with his social enterprise, Compuritas GmbH, he already has a number of awards. Some entrepreneurs in the audience had already had initial contact with company awards and talked about their experiences. This enabled us to make the workshop particularly interactive and initiate lively discussions.

We would like to thank the speakers, all participants and our cooperation partner Unicorn Startup & Innovation Hub. We are pleased that our workshops are so well received and we can offer added value to many interested parties with this workshop.
